The National Post-Compas survey, conducted in May and June showed 63% of the 400 senior executives and business owners polled said they were somewhat, or very satisfied with the performance of the federal government in promoting a business environment in Canada.
Sixty per cent of those polled felt the government should be less involved in the business community however, while the remaining 40 per cent believes they should take a more active role.
Eighty-three per cent of those polled said the many recent downfalls of Internet-related ventures was "simply a healthy correction, weeding out unprofitable companies and initiatives," while about 80 per cent said recent stock market declines can be attributed largely to "inflated optimism that investors had about the high-tech sector," according to the survey.
Eight-three per cent of those polled showed at least moderate concern for the state of the global economy.
