Rona will concentrate on developing a hardware, renovation and gardening products powerhouse, after acquiring 50 retail stores from West Fraser, which had sales of $805 million last year.
Rona's president and chief executive, Robert Dutton, sees the two companies as a perfect fit, considering the similarities of their operations in Ontario.
"The fit couldn't be better, as our networks show virtually no overlapping," he told the Globe and Mail. "The timing is great, as both our organizations were starting to accelerate their expansion into new territories."
